R.A.B. This stands for Remember Alex Brown. I sat and watched Extreme Home Makeover like I do every Sunday. I always get emotional watching this show, but tonights show really tug at my heartstrings. Alex Brown lost her life in a single car accident as she drove to what seemed like just another ordinary day of her senior year in high school. Although no other vehicles were involved, Alex was not alone. The cell phone on which she had sent and receive over 10,000 text messages in the weeks preceding her accident was with her. Alex lost her life to texting while driving.
I admit that I have been guilty of this more than once even though I knew there was dangers doing it. But after sitting there listening to this family's story, it really hit me. My life, my childrens lives, and the lives of everyone else are worth more than me reading a message, or sending one. So I am taking the R.A.B. pledge and promising to not text while driving.

Bring on the famous people! Ok well maybe not. It is that time of year again for the starts to come to Utah for the Sundance Film festival. We have gone up for the last couple of years and we always see somebody famous! Well this year was a little different. We didn't get to go up our normal weekend because Jon had to work at the station. So we headed up the next weekend but it happened to be the last days of the festival. I think everyone went home, but we still had a lot of fun. We went to eat at Doolan's for some delicious wings then grabbed us a Java and walked Main Street. The weather was nice and it was good just to be with my hubby.

Happy 90th Birthday our sweet Grandma Bonham. What a milestone to reach! 90 years is such a wonderful life and she is still going. She told me that she recently went to the doctor and got an A-ok from them and that she was pretty dang healthy. She said she may just live another 10 years. Go grandma! What a fun night catching up with the Fenton family, and the Graff family and even our family. I cannot wait til this summer when we finally have a Fenton Family Reunion. People will be coming from all over including down south. And it all started from this woman.
We love this sweet lady and we are glad she is still hear with us. Happy Birthday Gramma Bottom!

It was like a magic trick! So tonight I decided to make Rosemary Lime Chicken for my family. A couple of weeks ago, our fridge in the garage got turned down and all of the meat in the top of it thawed out. It was really gross because we didn't discover it for a couple of weeks either. Some of the meat that thawed was a large pack of chicken from Costco. Crap! Really wanting this chicken, I rummaged through the freezer some more and found a bag of individually frozen chicken breasts. Jackpot! There was just enough to feed our family. I thought we would even have a little too much. So I thawed them out, and carefully placed them in the pan making sure that all of the surfaces could be covered with lime juice and rosemary. The pan was full. I stuck it in the oven and for the next 40 minutes, the aroma of the spices penetrated the house. My mouth was watering thinking about eating this yummy chicken. I made some rice and some beans to go with our meal. When I pulled the pan out of the oven and uncovered it, a whoof of smells jumped out. Then when I looked in the pan.... This is what I saw....

What in the heck happened to my chicken?? I swear these started out as breasts and now they look like 'tenders. This is 6 pieces of chicken breast if you can believe it. Now this isn't my first time cooking so I'm not gonna take a lot of blame, but this chicken literally looked like some sort of scab or the sole of a shoe. I know this wouldn't have happened with my Costco chicken. No more frozen chicken for me.

Well since my poor little Tukar has something wrong with his eye (I'm thinking it's pink eye), we took him to the Dr to get a prescription to make him all better.
Tukar was such a good boy at the doctors office. He has never really been to sick, so he hasn't spent much time there, but he has been to plenty of doctors with his dad so he knew just what to do. He jumped up on the bed and sat patiently looking at books until the nurse came in and weighed and measured him. He knew that if he was good he could get a sucker. Sure enough... it was pink eye. Then it spread to both eyes! Ah crap! It is so sad to see his poor little eyes stuck together with goobers. I was glad he was such a good boy.

I hate to say these dreaded word, but I think Tukar has....dun dun dun..."PINK EYE"! Sick babies are no fun but this is one sickness that truly does SUCK! His poor little eye is all swollen shut and goobers keep coming out. He whines, "daddy, please wipe my tears in my sick eye". It makes me so sad. So after confirmation tomorrow from the Dr., I am going to have to start sanitizing our house! I sure don't want to get it and I dont want anyone else getting it. No School tomorrow for my little guy!

I love a good project but I am not a patient person either. When I do a project, I like to get it done really quick. I don't think I knew what I was in for when I decided to refinish this dresser for Brekyn. She is sooo hard on furniture, dressers mostly. Her poor dresser now has 3 broken drawers from her stuffing them full. So I thought, hey a quick coat or 2 of paint and some distressing and she would have a new dresser. I have been looking for the perfect color and finally decided on a surfer blue. I bought the paint, brought it home and started prepping the drawers and stuff. That's when I realized that it was not going to be a short process. The dresser has this coat of varnish or something on it that is flaking off like some sort of dandruff. So now I have to make sure it is all off before I start to paint. It took me 2 hours to do 2 drawers. This is gonna take some time. I am excited for the finished result though.

I love a good book and I am glad my kids do too. Every year the elementary schools do JAZZ reading and they keep track of the minutes they read and turn them in to their teacher. This lasts about a month and the school that has the most total reading minutes gets to have a JAZZ player come to their school. This is such a great time to get the kids reading. Brekyn sat and read for a total of 8 hours. I got her to read The Hunger Games and she was a little reluctant at first. She ended up reading about 10 chapters in the book today alone! This is where she was ALL day today!

I found my new love... LAZERTAG!!! We went out tonight with Scotty and Lisa. We had been cooped up all day and we needed to run away. So we ran to Jack and Jill's in Lehi and got the all you can bowl and lazertag special! We bowled about 3 games, then went in and played a round of lazertag. It was only us 4 and we set it up for a free for all. The war was ON! I ended up winning the grand prize but Lisa trashed all of us at bowling! She was on FIRE! They have some fun contests that they do and I ended up winning one. We had to lay on the floor and roll our ball. The person that got the most pins down got a free shake!!! BINGO! It was a lot of fun and I needed a fun night out to get my mind off of things!

It was such a good day today. A good workout, clean the house a bit, made cookies, made dinner, went to the Rockwell vs. Maeser with Jon, Brekyn, Tukar and Amy even came and watched Syd cheer, then it was home to decorate the cookies. We brought Becca home with us and she helped us decorate cookies!
I had to give tukar his own cup of frosting becaue the wat he frosts cookies is... a little bit of frosting on the cookie....then a little bit of frosting in his mouth. And he LOVES sprinkles!

Spending time with my family is such a wonderful thing. I love sitting and listening to my pa tell stories about his life. Tonight my mom invited us to go out to eat to try a new restaraunt that had just opened called Milagros. It was really good food. I ordered the Fajitas and Jon got the Filet Mignon Tacos. I would probably go there again.

SILENCE!!! I KEEL you! What an amazing night! I bought Jon tickets to see Jeff Dunham and his puppets for Christmas! Amy got Dave tickets also. It was such a fun night. We grabbed some dinner at Cafe Rio, jumped on Trax (literally) and headed for the show. the lights went down and we laughed the entire time! Peanut was my fave by far. That guy is so amazing how he can totally make you start believing his characters are really there and that they have their own personalities. You almost forget they are puppets. I loved the night and my belly hurt from laughing so hard. They say laughing burns tonz of calories! I want to thank my wonderful husband and my great friends for such a fabulous night!!!

(the slide show was priceless!)

(Peanut was by far my fave)

Go Rockwell Marshals Go! I love going to basketball games to watch my sweet daughter cheer, but from now on, I get to watch my neice Miranda play too. She recently transferred to Rockwell and she joined the basketball team. She did such a good job! I am proud of both of these girls!

NO SCHOOL today meant a day full of...... CLEANING!! I challenged the girls to a contest by writing down everything that needed to be done around the house and when they did it, they got to cross it off and put their name by it. The one that got the most done, won a special prize! It was amazing having them clean without complaining! and they didn't argue who's chore was who's! It WORKED!! We got so much accomplished today. I cleaned the kitchen from top to bottom! I dusted everywhere, scrubbed everything, and pledged everything! I love having a clean house! Good Job girls (even Tukar took the challenge and cleaned his room andof course he beat us all!)

Sundays are a day of relaxation around our house. We watch TV, catch up on our shows, and hang out. I tried a new recipe for "White Chicken Chili" that I got from my friend Paige. It was pretty good. The highlight of my day was taking time out for myself and giving myself a avocado mud mask. It felt so refreshing after it was all done! Wow I sure looked like a hot mamacita too!!!!

Two weeks has gone by and I am proud of myself for doing this still (Project life).
I love my bed. I love laying in it watching movies and snuggling in my blankets. So thats what I did today. My eyes were so swollen after a long night and a good talk with my mom so I layed in bed and had an icepack on my eyes trying to get the swelling down. Then my sweet hubby brought me a drink (on his way to the store from the station) He knew I needed one BAD and I didnt want to go get it. He sure does love me!

What a day! My sweet friend Lisa graduated from Nursing school and I was honored that I was invited to watch her accomplishment. I know the blood sweat and tears she put into getting through this and I am very proud of her. She has inspired me to really go back to school and get a degree... in what I am not sure yet (I would love for it to be in architecture but I need to get more confidence in myself to do that).
Anyways... Lisa, I am proud of you. Good job!

So today I felt like I got jumped by a gang of ninja's and they sat and threw coconuts at my body! Everything about me doesn't feel good. So today was a chillax day. I did clean up a little, do some laundry and even got a visit from my V. The best thing about today was that Trauma got to take a shower and he smells sooo clean! He has been one stinky dog. I love my dog but I cant handle when he stinks! Now he smells like Bed Head for dogs!

Love hanging with my girls. Today I went to lunch with Lisa and Kellie (and cute little Landon and Tukar). We went to Chili's and chatted and chatted away! I even think that the waiter was getting kinda ipatient with us being there for so long. You know how it is though... women be talking! It could go all night long! Thanks girls for a good afternoon. I needed to get out of the house for a bit!

(I really wish I could figure out why my camera is taking such crappy pics?
Maybe it was the waiter taking them huh???)

Today was 1/11/11! Happy day! Well for most of us. I guess Sydnie got her finger kicked today during cheer and I think it is broken. It looks broken that it. It looks like a little cream colored tootsie roll on her hand. We brought her home from a game and dad fixed her up with a splint. The funny thing is that she cheered through a whole game with a big smile on her face, then as soon as she got home and showed her dad, she broke down!

I decided that I needed to make a change in my life, so I cancelled all of the movie channels on our DISH and decided to take that extra moolah and put it towards a good use! A gym membership! I love taking the time out for myself by going to the gym while Tukar is at school. It is "ME" time. It feels good to work up a sweat. I have noticed a big difference in how I feel each day after I work out. I am trying to get in enough shape to run a 5k in April. No pain no gain!!

Tonight Jon made our family Prime Rib for dinner and it was absolutely delicious!
Then he made his famous garlic mashed potatoes. It was a meal fit for a king.

Today was kind of a lazy day. I loved laying around snuggling with my hubby watching tv and catching uo on our shows. Jon went and got us Pizza Hut and we played the kinect for a little bit. Then we made cookies (ok so we just put dough balls on a pan) and watched "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" with the kids. It was nice to just be a bum!

~7 of 365~

Today when I took Tukar to school, instead of going to work out... I snuck away in my car and read my new book Awakened for 2 solid hours! It felt great to have that much time completely silent! I got to chapter 11 and fell right back in love with the characters from this series. I almost don't want to finish because the next one doesn't come out til November!
Later we grabbed our mugs and headed to the District to see the movie True Grit with Dave and Amy. We grabbed some food and the ultimate necessity popcorn and headed in to find our seats. It was a great movie. I wish it would have ended a little better... maybe your typical Hollywood Ending... but it was a fantastic show. Who thought you would laugh so much during a western?? And Matt Damon as a cowboy?? Whooda Thunk! Good flick though!

(that is sooo not us in this pic)

Today was a great day. I ended up organizing our pantry for about 2 1/2 hours, went and worked out with Jon, stopped and had a roll (SUSHI) then it was off to Dave and Amy's to put my "Project Life" to LIFE. This is such an exciting project for me to do. I may not live the most extraordinary life, but it is MY LIFE!

(my flash wasn't working so the pic is kinda crappy)

Gotta love basketball season. Well today I went to watch Sydnie cheer for the Rockwell High School Varsity basketball team. I would have never imagined that my daughter would grow up to be a on eof those girls called a cheerleader but she breaks the stereotype of the ditzy, dumb, rude, stuck up, slutty girls that we all hated in high school. She is a straight A student, she is one of those type of girls that wants everyone to feel liked, and she has really good morals. She even refused to do a sexually provocative cheer because it wasnt what she standed for. She makes me proud.

I love when I get to get together with my Bunco girlz! It was so much fun this month because we added some new girlz! My mom was one of the new ones (even though she pretty much comes every time anyways) then there is Natalie and my cute Kelly Becca! I am gonna love having her in our group! It was a lot of fun! It was MEXICAN FIESTA night! We had Cafe Rio salad with rice and MARGARITAS!!! Thanks Layne for a great night and Thanks to my girlz too!! I know Bunco nights will always be full of laughs!
I smell a little like Limes and worms...

Monday came and it was the end of Christmas break. Back to routines, back to school, and back to working out. The day pretty much consisted of organizing pictures and TRYING to get them to download on to the external my hubby bought me for Christmas.

~2 of 365~

Day 2 consisted of hanging around the house while Jon was at work at the station. So Tukar and I bonded with some X-Box. Lego Indiana Jones 2 to be exact! It is so funny to play with him.

~1 of 365~

A sweet friend of mine gave me a wonderful idea to do this thing called "Project Life" by Becky Higgins. You have a picture of everyday of your life for One full year. It can be anything about your life. So here it goes....
On January 1st... we welcomed in the year 2011 with a bang! This man is the love of my life and I am so glad to have him.

OOPS!!!

So in the midst of revamping my blog... I LOST all my contacts! Please oh please I would love to check out what is going on with you! Please leave a comment on here so I can add you!

The word "I"

You know "I" is such a tricky word. You use it in so many sentences but really forget the context of it's meaning. If you use it too much, you become selfish. But if you don't use it enough, you forget who you are. It is hard to determine how much the word should be used. This is the start of a New Year! I am going to play into the whole hype about what "I" am going to change about myself this year. I have done a lot of growing and changing this past year because I wasn't happy with who I was. I had hurt people, made them feel less than worthy and took too many things to heart and ended up holding a grudge. I didnt feel healthy, or happy. But in the process of changing... I lost a bit of myself. I know that change can be good, but only if you are changing the parts that really need some work. Well after learning to let go of things that I could not change, of people that I could not change, or to just give into life, I forgot who I really was, what I was really about and the things that I loved to do. I want to do the things I love because I love them. Not because anyone else loves them or not. So things I am going to work on this year...

I am...
*going to try and be a more patient person. Not only with my family and friends but with strangers as well. (I tend to be a bit of a road rager)

*going to spend more one on one time with my kids. I would love to find something that we love and do it together. Like take a cooking class with Brekyn, and go work out with Sydnie. Tukar and I have our time together everyday and I need to spend some of that time making memories with him.

*going to try and be a better wife. I need to be more understanding about what my husband goes through on a day to day basis. I want to be more supportive and appreciative of him. I know he works so hard everyday so that we can have things for our lives.

*going to get back into scrapbooking and preserving the past. Scrapbooking is so much fun and relaxing to me, but it is also important to help preserve the past. Memories are all we have of things that have shaped us into who we are. I want my children to grow up and remember the things that happened in their lives. I am going to do the Beggy Higgins Project Life. It is a photo a day of your life. I dont claim to have the most exciting life, but I do have a busy one. I want to look back in a year and see what I did with 365 days of my life.

*going to try and become a more organized person. I have become so scatterbrained in my day and I forget to do the simplest of tasks. Maybe it's an age thing. I have to have notebooks around me and calendars to remind me of what I have to do. I need to implement the task of everything has a place and every place has a thing. Maybe I need to start doing Fly Lady again to help me keep up on things. It helped a lot when I was doing it before.

*going to dedicate the time to becoming a healthier me. I have had a regime of working out 3 times a week while Tukar is at school. While the kids were out for Christmas break... I didnt make the time to go beacuse things were so hectic. I started to get into a funk and become depressed and awnry and I realized it was because I havent worked out. I am not happy with my myself so I want to change that. I am the only one with the power to do so.

Go to fullsize image

*going to try and be better at saving. I want to cut down on my shopping and try to be completely debt free (well besides my house) by the end of the year. That means I have to get rid of those pesky little things called CREDIT CARDS! They are really good at sucking you in. I want to save up for a vaycay. A time to get away! A time to regain myself. I know we will aways have bills, but I want to be more on top of them! I guess that falls back in to the organizing part of life!
Go to fullsize image

*going to read more. After years of blaming my dislexia for me not reading, I decided that I would try it. In these last couple of years I have learned to enjoy reading so much more. I does take me a little longer than others, because of the dislexia, but I am learning how to adjust to it. Last year I read about 10 books. So this year... my goal is to read at least 15!!! I have to go get me a new one today! My new Vamp book comes out and I am excited to start reading it. It is the 8th in the series! So my goal... READ MORE!

*  going to BLOG MORE!!!  I really let this bog thing go last year and I HAVE to take time out to do it! It is like my fmaily journal. I also want to keep up on my craft blog, scrapbook blog, and my personal journal. I know... TO MUCH BLOGGING! I can do it though.

*going to work on starting and FINISHING my YW Personal Progress. This is something that I never did as a girl partly because of where I lived, and partly because I didn't have the support to do it. Well since Sydnie has finished hers (way early too) she inspired me to work towards getting mine. So this is something we are going to work on together. I can only do it while I have daughter in YW so this is the perfect time to do it. Plus I think it will help me grow spiritually and help me become a better wife, mother, and daughter.
Here Wishing everyone luck for this wonderful New Year!

Christmas 2009!

Christmas was a lot of fun this year. Tukar starte dto understand what Christmas was all about (well the Santa part at least) He did know that it was Jesus' birthday ("Happy Birthday Baby Jesus!!")

Let's GO JAZZ!!!

I haven't really been into the Jazz for a few years now. They kept changing players and it got frustrating. Well this year was a bit different. We have had the awesome opportunity to share season tickets this year and it has been a BLAST!!! I have gone from not knowing anyone on the team (except Wiliams, Boozer and Korver) to knowing all of the players and their numbers (thanks Kimmie for that). I have learned so much about the game too. I have loved going to games and being able to take my kids to a couple of them. We have made some fun friends up there too. I hope we get this same opportunity next year! Now I am addicted (I even watch the away games at home- well most of them!) I have my faves including Kyle Korver,
and Little Fes (okay so he's not so little!)

Ok I will like DWill a little (but just for u Kim)
Here are some fun pics of our trips to the games so far this season!

Me and Kelly with our autographed Jerseys! Go Iverson and Korver (thanks Boden)
